BRAIDS AFTERCARE
1.If the hair is 5 inches or longer in length a vitalising spray may be used throughout the whole length of the braid i.e. root to tip-approximately twice a week. 2.If the natural hair is less than 5 inches the braid spray should only be used mid length to ends only approximately twice a week. 3.Braided hair should only be washed approximately once a week; washing more often will loosen the braids and cause bits of the natural hair to loosen from the braid. 4.Hair can be washed either in the shower stood upright,or in the bath.
METHOD
1.Wet the hair (braids) using the showerhead,or a jug in the bath. Dilute a mild moisturising shampoo with 3 parts warm water-pour this over the root area of the braids, gently use your fingers to make sure the shampoo has covered all areas on the scalp.Do not massage. Rinse thoroughly using clean water, in a downward direction, until all traces of shampoo have been removed. 2. Repeat the procedure, but substitute conditioner instead. An oil free conditioner is recommended after rinsing. Then gently squeeze excess water from the braid. 3. Wrap a large towel round the head and pat, do not rub, over the towel using palms of your hands. Leave the towel wrapped round the head for 2 minutes. 4. The braids can now be left to dry naturally or a hand dryer may be use on a medium heat.
The root area needs to be checked regularly to ensure there is no matting. We recommend the braids should be removed after 3 months or when there is 1 1/2 to 2 inches of regrowth. This depends on how fast your hair grows, as the natural hair may start to get knotted at the roots in which case they will need to be removed earlier. |
